The 2026–2027 Kandinsky exhibition in Rome explores abstraction as a changing enquiry. At Palazzo Bonaparte, colour meets lines, geometries and irregular shapes. Begin by observing how elements approach, contrast and balance without needing to identify hidden objects.

The Palazzo Bonaparte exhibition’s route

Turismo Roma’s presentation describes an exhibition curated by Angela Lampe and organised by Arthemisia with the Centre Pompidou. It follows figurative beginnings, Munich and Der Blaue Reiter, revolutionary Russia, Bauhaus and Paris, also noting Gabriele Münter and Nina Kandinsky.

Works mentioned include Yellow-Red-Blue (1925) and The Black Arch (1912). Compare relationships between forms as well as colours across these different dates.

Yellow-Red-Blue: begin with broad areas

Step back from the reproduction to identify areas prominent through size or colour, then approach and follow crossing or neighbouring lines. Nearby colours change how a form is perceived.

Imagine covering one side: what balance changes? Describe contrast, direction and proportion without assigning fixed meanings to every circle or triangle.

How a detail changes the whole

Follow a thin line, edge or small shape until it meets another. A detail can connect distant parts or interrupt an expected continuity.

Compare works from different periods using captions for context. Notice mark density, open space and background relationships. These questions welcome first encounters with Kandinsky.

Choose a Kandinsky image, then its edition

Compare the subjects in our Kandinsky puzzle collection. Clear outlines, repeated shapes, colour transitions and fine marks offer different clues rather than a fixed difficulty rating.

Check piece count, cut and dimensions. Assembly provides time with visual relationships while the original offers different scale and material. Continue with abstract art puzzles.
