From Gaudí to Picasso in Bologna, subtitled Masterpieces from the Carmen Thyssen Collection, connects painting, architecture and changing visual ideas. At Palazzo Albergati, famous names belong to a wider story of landscapes, urban spaces and objects.

Barcelona connects the exhibition’s story

Arthemisia’s official educational programme follows Catalan art through Realism, Modernisme, Noucentisme and the avant-garde. Gaudí brings nature, decoration and functional objects into dialogue with painting. Picasso, Miró and Dalí appear within this exploration of modernity.

Ask how the same environment becomes a narrative scene, arrangement of lines or atmosphere. Subject recognition is a beginning; how the image guides your gaze matters too.

From nature to an object’s form

Follow a decorated object’s edge: does its pattern accompany the form, interrupt it or suggest continuation? Try the question with a painting’s borders and a branch, curve or colour patch.

Compare repeated decoration, isolated silhouettes and layered landscapes without assigning every form the same meaning.

Picasso, Miró and Dalí: distinct paths

Read titles, dates and techniques alongside signatures. An artist’s presence in a group exhibition does not amount to a full retrospective or predict which works you will see.

Remember one detail for each artist, then describe it without the name. This can distinguish what affected you from expectations you brought to the visit.

Continue with catalogue reproductions

Explore Picasso, Miró and Dalí puzzles for other images. Consult the exhibition programme for its actual displayed works.

Compare the full image and edition information. A monochrome detail and a varied-colour scene offer different clues. A visit can inspire interest in a different subject.

Plan your visit with official information
