The 2026–2027 Chagall exhibition in Vercelli invites you to explore relationships between memory and images. Figures, animals, flowers and places can share a painting without following an everyday scene’s arrangement. At Spazio Arca, begin by considering what holds a composition together alongside its apparent freedom.

Memory and rebirth in the exhibition project
Arthemisia’s educational programme follows memory from Vitebsk roots to circus imagery, also exploring exile and rebirth. Recurring motifs include animals, violins, brides and flowers. Its adult programme describes a dialogue with works from the Iannaccone Collection.
Compare recurring motifs rather than assigning each an identical meaning. A central figure in one work may become a small detail in another; its relationship with colour and space changes too.
Follow a motif without turning it into a formula
Choose a recognisable element, then consider what surrounds it. A face, animal or bouquet may catch your eye immediately. A background, diagonal line or quieter figure can connect it to the wider scene.
Describe the image using three verbs: what do figures do, where does your eye travel, and how do forms meet? Use exhibition captions for biographical references and the project’s interpretations.
Colour connects distant parts
Follow a colour when it reappears elsewhere: it may link a face and landscape or bring separate figures together. Then notice where colour changes and which edges remain recognisable.
Describe continuity or contrast without translating every shade into a fixed emotion. Colour provides a reference for returning from details to the whole surface.
Continue with another Chagall image
Compare available subjects in our Chagall puzzle collection. A visit can spark curiosity about a figure or colour relationship; continuing that exploration does not require the same painting.
Examine the composition and edition specifications. Similar colours and overlapping figures offer different assembly clues from isolated objects. A detail’s relationship may emerge as surrounding pieces join it. Catalogue puzzles are reproductions; exhibitions and collections present originals.
