History of the Munch Museum Oslo
The construction of the Munch Museum Oslo, in Italian Museo di Munch, originated from the city’s municipal cinema and opened its doors for the first time in 1963.
Its collection consists of works and paintings by Edvard Munch, which he donated to the city of Oslo upon his death.
Additionally, the museum’s halls include other works donated by his sister Inger Munch.
Today, the museum also contains sections dedicated to teaching and education and has facilities for performing arts.
