• History of the Mucha Museum Prague

The Mucha Museum Prague is the only museum in the world dedicated to the life and work of the Czech Art Nouveau artist acclaimed worldwide, Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939).

The Museum is an exceptional testament to Mucha’s contribution as an important educator, theorist, artist, and designer, whose influence remains with us today.

In 1782, architect Kašpar Předák created a spectacular music hall, decorated with paintings and themes from the medieval chivalric epic about King Arthur.
The hall is the most representative room of the palace, extending over two floors.

  • Collection of the Mucha Museum Prague

The Mucha Collection is the largest and most complete collection of Alphonse Mucha’s works in the world.
The collection consists of approximately 3,000 artworks, 4,000 photographs, and a vast written archive.

The Mucha Museum in Prague is divided into seven sections: decorative panels, Parisian posters, Czech posters, oil paintings, photographs, and the artist’s personal memorabilia.

The exhibition is complemented by an interesting documentary on Mucha’s life and work, featuring some objects that once belonged to the Mucha family home in Prague and now fill the exhibition.
