• Kröller-Müller Museum Otterlo

    In the Kröller-Müller Museum Otterlo there is one of the largest Van Gogh collections in the world.
    In fact, its halls house nearly 90 paintings and over 180 drawings by the great Dutch master.

    Additionally, the museum presents masterpieces by modern masters such as Claude Monet, Georges Seurat, and Pablo Picasso, organizing special temporary exhibitions.

    The museum’s name comes from Helene Kröller-Müller, the wife of a wealthy industrialist and one of the first to recognize Van Gogh’s genius and purchase his paintings, a great art collector.

    In 1938 the museum, designed by Henry van de Velde, opened its doors for the first time. The sculpture garden was added in 1961, and a new exhibition wing, designed by Wim Quist, opened in 1977.

    Today, the Kröller-Müller Museum is a state museum of the Netherlands located in Otterlo, a village in the center of De Hoge Veluwe National Park.

    The Kröller-Müller Museum houses a considerable collection of Vincent van Gogh paintings, such as Terrace of the Café at Night, Place du Forum, Arles, making it the second-largest Van Gogh collection in the world after the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

    The Kröller-Müller Museum’s collection includes around 20,000 artworks.
    Masterpieces by modern masters, from Van Gogh to Mondriaan.
    Currently, a selection of over 4,400 works is on display. The artworks are accompanied by brief texts with information, photographs, or extra videos, as well as some basic details.
