History of the Detroit Institute of Arts
The Detroit Institute of Arts, known as DIA, houses one of the largest and most significant art collections in the United States.
A multitude of artworks created throughout Asia, the ancient Middle East, and the Islamic world.
The museum’s first painting was donated in 1883, and today its collection includes over 65,000 works.
With approximately 680,500 visitors per year, the DIA is among the most visited art museums in the world.
