The circus show is what Mordillo wanted to represent through this illustration in watercolor, acrylic and pastels.
Mordillo’s unmistakable and recognizable style and his tender humor have appealed to both children and adults. The characters that populate his imagination are funny, chubby little men with enormous round noses, all white in a colorful world, who express themselves without words , relying instead on amusing gestures, inevitably capturing attention and imagination.
This illustration, as the title suggests, represents a typical circus show.
The circus is a live performance featuring various displays of physical skill, acrobatics, and balancing. It includes juggling, eccentric comedy, and clowning, as well as animal training and equestrianism, and high-risk performances.

In this illustration, Mordillo ironically explores the feelings animals experience during the show, reversing the reality we are used to: animals are the spectators and humans are the only artists.

People’s sensitivity on this issue seems increasingly convinced that condemning an animal to this life just to force it to perform is an unacceptable cruelty, a legacy of a bygone tradition.
