The History of the Sistine Chapel
The Sistine Chapel is one of the chapels in Vatican City, where the Pope resides.
It is named after Pope Sixtus IV, who ordered its restoration between 1473 and 1481.
Most of the frescoes on the walls and ceiling of the Sistine Chapel were created by one of the greatest Italian artists of the 15th century: Michelangelo Buonarroti.
The fresco in the central part depicts The Creation of Abraham, which describes the story of Genesis in which God gave life to Abraham. Along with the frescoes of the Last Judgment, they best represent the art of Michelangelo.
