• Philadelphia Museum of Art

    The Philadelphia Museum of Art is located in the city of Philadelphia in the United States of America. It was originally established in 1876 for the Centennial Exposition of Philadelphia.

    The museum has a collection containing over 240,000 objects, including important works of European, American, and Asian origin.
    The artworks include sculpture, paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, armor, and decorative arts.

    Meanwhile, the Perelman Building, inaugurated in 2007, houses more than 150,000 prints, drawings, and photographs.
    Also, 30,000 costumes and textiles and over 1,000 design objects, including furniture, ceramics, and glass items.

    Every year, the museum hosts several special exhibitions, including traveling exhibitions organized with other museums in the United States and abroad.
    Visitor attendance for the museum was 793,000 in 2017.

    The Museum and the Pennsylvania School of Industrial Art opened on May 10, 1877.
    The museum’s collection began with objects from the Exposition and gifts from the public impressed by the ideals of the Exposition of good design and craftsmanship.

    Among the first donations were art objects and European and Japanese art books for the museum library.
