National Museum of Krakow
It was founded in 1879 following the donation of the painting “The Torches of Nero”, a tribute from the Polish painter Henryk Siemiradki. Twenty years after its opening, the National Museum of Krakow already had a collection of over 10,000 works including paintings, sculptures, and precious objects from all over Poland.
Today, with more than 700,000 pieces by national and international artists, it competes with the largest European museums and boasts 11 locations throughout the city.
The National Museum of Krakow is part of the National Museums of Poland complex. In fact, it is the most important art gallery in the country.
