• Medici Riccardi Palace in Florence

The Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Florence is one of the most important buildings of the Italian Renaissance.
Built starting from 1444 at the request of Cosimo the Elder de’ Medici, it was designed by the architect Michelozzo, who created an innovative model of a city palace.

Its imposing structure, with rusticated stonework on the ground floor and mullioned windows on the upper floors, deeply influenced Florentine architecture. In addition to its historical relevance, the palace is known for its splendid interiors and extraordinary artistic decoration.

  • The Chapel of the Magi and the Interiors

One of the most precious treasures of the palace is the Chapel of the Magi, frescoed by Benozzo Gozzoli in the second half of the fifteenth century.
The cycle of frescoes depicts the lavish Procession of the Magi, in which numerous members of the Medici family and figures of the time appear.

The palace also preserves elegant courtyards, frescoed halls and period furnishings, which testify to the luxury and power of the Medici family. After passing to the Riccardi family in the seventeenth century, the interiors were enriched with Baroque decorations, still visible today.

  • A Museum between History and Art

Today, Palazzo Medici Riccardi houses a museum that allows visitors to explore the history of Florence and the Medici legacy.
The exhibition rooms host paintings, sculptures and historical documents, while the inner garden offers an oasis of tranquility in the heart of the city.

The palace is an unmissable stop for those who wish to discover Renaissance Florence and the central role that the Medici played in the culture and politics of the time.
