Getty Museum Los Angeles: arts and photographs
Located on the hills of the western area of Los Angeles, the Getty Museum is a modern city, a complex of futuristic buildings.
Inside them there are galleries rich in paintings, drawings, sculptures, European decorative arts and European, Asian and American photographs.
The museum takes its name from the American philanthropist Jean Paul Getty who, initially, in 1974 opened the museum on his property in Malibu wanting to recreate the Villa of the Papyri in Herculaneum.
Currently the museum is hosted in two locations: ancient art at the Getty Villa in Malibu and the rest at the Getty Center, opened in 1997.
