History of the Courtauld Gallery London
In 1932, collectors Samuel Courtauld and Lord Lee, together with art historian Sir Witt, founded the Courtauld Gallery London.
The museum is particularly famous for its French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings.
Samuel Courtauld began the art collection at the museum that bears his name with a vast array of paintings.
The collection today contains about 530 paintings and over 26,000 drawings, prints, and sculptures from the Middle Ages to modern times.
