• Mandala Painting

Paul Heussenstamm, (American, born in 1949), a leading figure in mandala painting and other forms of spiritual art, has taught for 25 years around the world as well as in his studio in California.

Paul Heussenstamm is the son of the artist and writer Karl Heussenstamm and the artist and psychologist Frances Heussenstamm. The family constantly engaged in spiritual discussions with important guests such as the Sufi master Pir Inayat Khan, the actor Gig Young, the transcendental painter Emil Bisttram and the health guru Gypsy Boots.

Heussenstamm’s brothers, Mark and John Heussenstamm, also live their lives as artists.

  • Flower Paintings and Mandalas

Although he originally aspired to become a plein air painter, Heussenstamm’s spiritual and artistic journey led him from landscape paintings to flower paintings and to discovering his passion for mandala paintings.

His first mandala was painted during a spiritual seminar led by Brugh Joy with important participants such as Barbra Streisand and Carrie Fisher.
He was introduced to the healing potential of mandalas through the work and mentorship of Beverly Sheiffer. Thanks to him, Heussenstamm adopted his mandala painting method for spiritual revitalization.

Since 1996, he has worked with the Chopra Center for Wellbeing, sharing his artistic experiences in nearly all the major events hosted by Deepak Chopra.
