  • Curiosities about Fabio Vettori

The Italian illustrator Fabio Vettori was born on July 4, 1957 in Trento where he still lives and works today. Since childhood he has shown a great passion for illustration, creating landscapes rich in details.
After enrolling in a technical institute for surveyors, a new horizon opened up for Fabio. It was precisely during the first year, in 1972, that ants entered his drawings.
His interest in detail pushed him to look for a subject that could multiply within the scenery he created: “that is why I chose ants”

  • Professional growth

In 1981 he participated in a graphic design competition. In 1982 he organized his first solo exhibition. This gave an initial idea of his drawings and what they wanted to express.

In 1983 he printed his first poster and, given the good result, realized the possibility of a new “publishing” activity.
In 1985 he began selling his first posters and greeting cards in Italy through a wholesaler in Lecco.

A series of exhibitions followed in mountain resorts in the province of Trento, alternating with appearances in other Italian cities.
Meanwhile the catalog was enriched with new subjects and products, in which Fabio’s imagination found full freedom of expression. In 1995 the company that still produces and markets many of the products in Italy was founded in Trento.

  • A world of ants

Since 2000 Fabio Vettori has been part of the Trentino Artistic and Quality Craft Consortium, which promotes and markets Trentino handicraft products.

In 2003 he published the first book “A World of Ants”, through illustrations and words, also accompanied by the contribution of the critic Maurizio Scudiero.

In 2004 he opened in Moena the first official single-brand shop of Le Formiche; later in 2008 he opened the second shop in Rome.

In 2011 the company obtained the recognition of the “Artigianarte Excellence Mark” granted by the Trentino Artistic and Quality Craft Consortium.
